Damn yeah I haven't gotten the gnome either, or the grubs. Best I got for the grubs was 331, 2 OFF!!! GRRRR!!!
And on the way to getting the car I did see the Gman walking outside, but that's the only time besides the cutscene where I saw him.
I didn't notice the DHARMA thing, that's pretty cool. Lost is a great show, it has a similar style to HL storytelling, probably why I like them both so much But too bad they didn't have Lou Gosset Jr. again to do the vorts, the voices for this episode were too human sounding if you ask me.
But man, tough stuff went on this episode. Lamarr is lost in space , Eli Vance is dead... and who would have thought the advisors could fly? They're way more powerful than I expected.
Anyways, now that the Combine portal is closed, what's left to do? Just clean up leftover Combine forces and advisors and go check out the Borealis? I'm trying to think of what the main plot will be for episode 3. And I'm also assuming that the Borealis (cool that they're fitting it in, since they didn't in HL2 ) is carrying portal technology as seen in Portal, but to me that doesn't really fit with what Eli was saying, that it was too dangerous and had to be destroyed. Could just be me, but I don't see the portal technology itself being very dangerous. Perhaps it could be something to do with GLaDOS? I myself am not too convinced that it's destroyed, due to the NOTES.EXE thing on aperturescience.com and the ending of Portal saying the test was highly successful.
And I was PISSED when Alyx interrupted Eli starting to talk about the Gman, and now he's dead. DAMN IT ALL. Anyway I don't think he works for Aperture, at least not in a business sense. If he's related to Aperture at all, I'd have to go out on a limb and guess that he's some sort of personification of the GLaDOS system. I can't explain how that would work though, something like the FATE system and Harle in Chrono Cross, I suppose. I don't think he's in league with the Combine, just cuz everything he's done has helped the resistance undermine them. Although we found out that the Gman supplied the sample that caused the resonance cascade in HL1, which in turn led up to everything else that happened, so I don't know about that.
I still think he loosely works for some yet unknown group or organization, but I don't know what their motives are. So in Ep1, the Vortigaunts pulled Gordon out of the Gman's stasis and saved Alyx from the Citadel's explosion, or did they? It seems to me from the scene I linked to above that the Gman never really lost control of Gordon and Alyx, since we now know that Alyx is also a pawn of the Gman from all the way back when he saved her from Black Mesa. It almost seems like Alyx is becoming more 'valuable' than Gordon, since up until now, it's been the Gman sending in Gordon to get something done, and Ep2 was basically an Alyx escort mission. I'll have to do some more reading/playing/thinking to see what else I can come up with.
Oh yeah - when that advisor killed Eli, it like sticks its tongue thing into the back of his head - can the advisors like extract knowledge doing that? They do appear to have telekinetic/telepathic abilities... Kleiner was saying how bad it would be if Eli got captured since he knows everything about the resistance, so I'm wondering if that more or less just happened.

The end Advisor scene is reminescent of the scene in Starship Troopers when Rico's buddy gets the old "suck yer brains out through a straw I have" from one of the bug leaders.
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

That girl is Denise Richards and that movie was great for one reason, it got you to root for the 'good guys' and then by the end of the movie you can tell the director fooled ya because all the good guys are really all Nazi mofos, and Doogie Howser is the head nazi.
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!
Got to check out the Lost room at White Forest, very cool, with the DHARMA logo and the computer which had 4 8 15 16 23 42 on it, the Lost numbers from the Valencetti equation or whatever the hell.
If you play through with the commentary, there's a node just inside the fence that says a lot of Valve people are fans of Lost, and I guess Gabe and one of the Lost creators were exchanging fan mail or something, and Gabe promised to put a Lost reference into Episode 2. But the node also said there was some Half-Life references in Lost, anyone remember what they were?
