I could tell half the time they were standing against a blue screen on a sound stage with zero acting..... very disappointing. :|

It was very informative indeed but still narration was prejudiced. It was still
a historical moment for Spartans, and even a proud moment for Leonidas to
go down in history books for taking this last stand. I guess, very few nations
get the chance of producing such brave men.
In the latest military history, I know of one such legend. The C company of
the 13th Kumaon Battalion of Indian Army, held off a fierce Chinese attack
on November 18, 1962, at the Rezang La heights that they held. It was said
that they were massively outnumbered and outgunned (20 to 1) and with
inferior weapons (303 rifles) compared to Chinese at that time, they fought
valiantly to the last man, and the last bullet. And they did not have the artillery
support.
All 109 men of the 'C' Company were killed. But they took down close to
two regiments with them. The enemy casualty was recorded 1000 from
different accounts.
The Chinese assault was blunted, and so was their plan to take over the
Chushul airfield. Thereafter, the Chinese did not push further.
This battle is also known as "Battle of Chushul" and the commanding officer,
who died defending those hights was Major Shaitan Singh.
As was written by Alfred Tennyson in his poem 'The Charge of the Light
Brigade' for the 13th Light Brigade of the British Army at Balaclava, the
Crimea, in 1854. Six hundred and seventy-three men rode at Russian
artillery and all were decimated.

Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred...
Not tho' the soldier knew
Some one had blunder'd;
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,

for the freaks and all that, you do relize that this was read as a tall-tale from the spartan that had to leave right? it was to get his men pumped for battle, so he took it upon himself to make it seem worse than it was.

It seems that the DVD release for 300 is July 31st. I don't think I said what I thought of the movie.
I thought it was good, and could have been so much better. The battle sequences are
freaking amazing. There are some parts that could have been left out....what do the stupid
sex scene(s) add to the movie?
Overall, the story was good, and I liked the bluescreen
film technique, I thought it added a nice feel. There were some historical acknowledgments,
like making Xerxes larger than life, since he was a famous figure in Iranian/Persian history.
I'd give it a B+/A-
