You're saying that because you have 5+ daily awards with the K98 sniper, but don't get the ribbon? I believe that contrarily to what the Ribbons and Ranks page says, the sharpshooter ribbon goes to the Allied sniper, not the Axis one.

All that work for naught. :P

Upset that you didn't get the flag cap award after your little flag tag episode with Nuisance? You've disappointed many around here with your cheap stat gathering tactics.

That grrr was for the sharpshooter ribbon... And in any case I am not upset about not getting a flag cap ribbon. I do want to say that I am sorry for being cheap and that it will NOT happen again!

Like what? Is this an attack on my playing style or just a general discussion Spanish? That flag thing with Nuisance is the only cheap thing I have done.

Just general discussion. You want an example? You mean like going to spec on a round loss. Or only playing when the server has 12 noobs on. Or team stacking. Or being some guy that only uses his shovel, thus not able to help his teammates that much. How does that rate with two goofballs trading flags when the other 30 people in the map are preoccupied with ignoring this phenomenon? All I can say is that even bots would have responded better.

All of these are cheap too, though none of them involve agreeing with a guy on the other team to stop shooting at each other. There's no need to oppose them to flag trading; all cheap if done to increase one's ranking.

Is this game about caping objectives or playing CS style shooting? If it is about the objectives and having fun, who cares as long as you aren't stat whoring, right?

What is this game about? I don't know. What's that got to do with "cheap stat gathering tactics"? Are you saying that stacking teams and playing with a shovel only are good ways to play as long as they're not done with the purpose of gaining stat points? I'd say it's about capping all the flags, so as to make your team win rounds, and that will involve shooting.

You can camp near a flag and go grab it every time it's taken by the enemy, it doesn't necessarily moves your team closer to winning. e.g. on Lennon you can spend your time hanging near the mid flag (easier to do for Allies) and go get it whenever it changes owner. Is that helping your team to win? Not a whole lot; you need the two-man objectives, which are much harder to get. Are you still "capping objectives", well yes you are, lots of.

As for the fun part, everyone has their own idea of what is fun.

A bit off topic, but would it be possible to assign more points to a 2-man flag vs a 1-man flag?

Using entity editing the flag properties can be modified to do this.

Ideally, flag value or worth should be inversely proportional to how many times it is being captured compared to the other flags on the map. This is based on data from hundreds of times each map is played. For instance, on Newcastle, both flags near each team's spawn are really hard to cap. They might be capped 1/1000th the time all the other flags are capped, thus it would be worth 1000 times more than the others. Now, that might be a bit extreme but that is the idea. (a ceiling on bonus could be imposed)

I would also think it would be neat to track the time between the last two flag caps. Often, when one teammate gets close to the last flag he will call out his position to encourage others to get the second to last flag. Players involved in both flag caps would receive a bonus for working together. Cap time difference would have to be within the cap time of the flag with the longest cap time.

Identifying events that imply teamwork I think would encourage more teamwork.
