Psychostats3.0.6b for POW now available

Postby The Spanish Inquisition » Tue May 29, 2007 6:32 am

http://powstats.jnellis.net/ps

Updates to the stats are run every 15 minutes. Awards, skill decay and maxdays are all once a day computations. There are no "live" stats per se but stats for a map you just played are only few minutes away.

As for weapon weights, they are all the same as the HLstatsx settings except smoke grenade which is a 100 instead of 1 now. Yes, 100. You know, for fun. Also, I don't know what the penalty for FF was but I set it at -10.

I have only made one modification to the awards, worst teammate now reflects the people with the worst FF% and not just the person with the most FF. (edit) It seems this is not computing as expected except for the month view.

Player stats are retained for the last 30 days and anything beyond that is ignored. Old stats are purged once a day.

You can log in and register your name with your player. There's no email involved. I don't really know what this gets you other than quick access to your players stats. (it in the upper right hand corner after you register).

If you wish to know more about the package then you can look at the psychostats FAQ here:

You can only compare players on the same page in the players rank area with the 'compare' button. To create comparisons of players outside of the current page you must manually specify their player_id number in the URL. You can find their player id by hovering over their link in the player list, it will be in your status bar below or in the URL if you click the link.

For instance, this is link that compares 29 POW members.

And I'm making some themes for it...
Preview of one, an hours work, I am working later hours because the only other guy besides the boss got fired so I'm going slow on this.

I'm an OK player compared to the rest in the clan, I'd say I'm 3rd or 4th depending how much you think Nuisances FF kills should rank him.

Did you reset the user accounts Spanish? I had to remake mine I made last week.
We should probably reorder the personal stats page and put the team stats in the number two and tree slots, I think it would look better there.

Yes, it's a completely different install. That one is going to be used for testing new stuff out because it's a bit fragile. Is it still working? I thought I had crashed it good.

Suggestions and discussion is welcome on any further modifications.

A POW member was complaining that the lag/freezing issue was the new stats. I turned it off temporarily, no data will be lost when it resumes.

Do we still have a lag/freezing problem? Except for Bobby, who never plays here anymore, I don't know who else has had problems lately. I figure if everyone makes it through this upcoming weekend with no complaints, stuff will probably start getting turned back on, but you'd have to ask Doom. Ideally, you turn shit back on a day at a time so you can isolate what is causing the problem if it re-occurs.

Bobby doesn't play here anymore because of the freezing... but I doubt the stats have
anything to do with it. You're using a log_address and doing the heavy work on your local server,
right? Either way, it's not in sync with any kind of wall clock, it happens all the time, on some maps
more than others.

My best guess is a bum router since I experience the lag across the 4 or 5 interNAP seattle-hosted
servers. I also ran pings from the other box while playing, and when the freezing occurred there
was packet loss to the six.nuclearfallout.net router, but not the shaw router on the preceding hop.

It's also interesting to note that the reverse DNS lookup fails for that router.

Code: Select all
DualG5:/Users/bobby> nslookup six.nuclearfallout.net
Server:         192.168.0.1
Address:        192.168.0.1#53

** server can't find six.nuclearfallout.net: NXDOMAIN

DualG5:/Users/bobby> nslookup 198.32.180.12
Server:         192.168.0.1
Address:        192.168.0.1#53

Non-authoritative answer:
12.180.32.198.in-addr.arpa      name = six.nuclearfallout.net.

Might not mean anything, but it could be a temporary route.

-b

p.s. I think you'll find it affects more people than me, but most of them don't post
here. They get the freezing and move on to another server.

Bobby, I will be out of town for about a week. When I come back I will be moving to another data center to see if this corrects the problems. I've been busy and wanted to do this when I had some time to spend on working this out. I'm sorry this is going on for you, but I thank you for the input.

The psychostats and hlstatx are computed NOT ON THE GAME SERVER but on a different machines. The ingame stuff, Statsme, is running as a game server plugin. How those different machines get the data for the two stats sites are also different. Psychostats uses ftp and downloads log files, HLStatx uses a command in the server cfg that says, "broadcast log data to HLstatx UDP listen server in realtime."
