The great thing about Diplomacy? No dice. It's a game of skill, not luck.
Here's a .
There are many variants, but the one I've typically used is to start off
Italy with a fleet in Rome rather than an army. It gives Italy more
offensive options and a bit more power (in the standard game, Italy is
the weakest country.)
These days it's hard to get 7 people together to play a game that can
last a good 4 hours... but if you can, it's worth it. You should be able
to find a used set on the cheap. I like the older sets better - With
"deluxe diplomacy" you get wooden squares & rectangles, or plastic
stars & anchors with the standard box.
(here's a and a on eBay. )
The new sets have goofy looking metal pieces. Ugly. Stupid Hasbro!
I think you'd like Diplomacy a lot, Spanish.

p.s. Very good from the Washington Post. Well worth the read.
